Queen's Health System Manager, Clinical Operations - Endoscopy (Full-Time, Day, 40) in Honolulu, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clinical Operations Manager is responsible for daily operations of the nursing unit, and supervision and support of personnel and patients. Includes administrative duties and may include hands-on clinical duties and responsibilities. Assists in setting the standard of care in the department, consistent with the mission, vision and philosophy of the organization.

• Participates in the administrative and operational management and long-range planning of unit(s) and area(s) assigned as required.

• Serves as the manager in the absence of the department manager.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Standing, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.

• Frequent: static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.

• Occasional: stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of one pound up to five pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

• Subjected to noise/vibrations from intercoms, telephones and monitors.

• Exposure to body fluids and communicable diseases.

• Frequently works on multiple tasks and priorities at one time.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Current Hawaii State license as Registered Nurse.

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

• Master’s degree preferred.

• Depending upon area of assignment, specialty certification/training may be required.

• Current BLS certification.

B. EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum three (3) years progressive experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility.

• One (1) year supervisory/leadership experience.

SCOPE OF SERVICE

The Endoscopy RN works collaboratively with the physician and the anesthesia provider and also monitors the patient during conscious sedation in order to determine patient needs during Endoscopic and GI procedures.

Endoscopy provides outpatient and inpatient services for pediatrics to adult patients over 18 years. The most frequent diagnoses are pain, bleeding, polyps, abnormal lab value, common bile duct stones, dysphagia, and pulmonary infiltrate. Procedures particular to this area include:

  • EGD

  • Colonoscopy

  • ERCP

  • Bronchoscopy

  • Manometry

  • 24 hour pH studies

  • 24 hour pH studies – Bravo capsule

  • Enteroscopy

  • Endoscopic Ultrasound

Endoscopy is a 6 procedure room, 1 out patient testing room unit which provides Endoscopic services for routinely scheduled inpatient and outpatient procedures, and urgent add-on procedures. Patients requiring a higher level of care (Intensive Care Unit) may be treated at the bedside. The average number of procedures is 20-30/day.

The hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm and Saturday and working holiday’s 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. 24-hour emergency coverage is provided with an on-call RN and GI Technician.
